10 years of inspiring change: ECOLISE Stories to Catalyze Collective Action training

The Stories to Catalyze Collective Action training took place from May 7-11, 2024, at the Arterra Bizimodu ecovillage in north of Spain, bringing together around 45 in-person participants and another 25 online. This event, part of the General Assembly, combined learning, reflection, and celebration to mark our 10-year anniversary. Moreover, it provided a platform for storytelling, strategizing future developments, and strengthening collaborations for the future.

During the General Assembly, ECOLISE also welcomed four new national members: Permaculture Association Finland, GEN Germany, Evolving Cycles (Greece), and Transition Belgium. In addition, five new council members were elected for a 2-year term: Jason Nardi (RIPESS Europe), Magali Paulus (CELL Luxembourg), and Ana Margarida Esteves (CEI-Iscte Portugal) joined, while Mieke Elzenga (GEN NL) and Claudian Dobos (Transition Romania) were re-elected. They will work alongside Leonor Alfonso (GEN Europe) and Merushe Zeleni (PVN Albania).

The gathering’s themes—land & nature, imagination & creativity, democracy & participation, and economy & action—were explored through storytelling, tours, campfire discussions, and Open Space sessions. Key activities included a World Café discussion on various work domains, a positive future collective imagination journey, strategic group dynamics, an ECOLISE quiz, and social activities.

Lastly, the achievements were celebrated in the ECOLISE 2023 activity report, available in English here. The report gathers all the successes and challenges faced during last year, as well as charting a course forward towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
