Stories that inspire change: ECOLISE’s campaign partner call and storytelling workshops open for registration!

The forthcoming European elections (6 – 9 June) will be a make-or-break moment for the European Green Deal and a pivotal moment for the socio-ecological transition. This is why ECOLISE has launched its advocacy campaign around the Time for Collective Action Manifesto. Our goal is to trigger conversations and storytelling around the Manifesto’s key messages to policy makers (see below):

Time for Collective Action Manifesto

To achieve this, ECOLISE is offering a series of storytelling workshops to selected campaign partners, which we will kickstart on Friday, April 12th and finalise on 8 May. We are collaborating with storytelling and participatory democracy experts Freya Barnes and Andrew Brightwell (Project Story), who will support campaign partners in crafting their own messages and stories compellingly.

Interested campaign partners can apply here to participate in the upcoming storytelling workshops, available both online and in a hybrid format. The deadline for applying to the storytelling workshop series is March 24.

Communities across Europe, and around the globe, are driving positive change by confronting climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, one neighbourhood at a time. Through collaboration with local governments, establishment of regenerative economies, cultivation of local food networks, and fostering dialogues on climate and nature, communities are becoming creative hubs of innovation, providing inspiring solutions to these urgent crises. To thrive, they require strong social and environmental framework conditions, and therefore, a strong and ambitious European Green Deal.

We are committed to sharing their stories in ECOLISE’s advocacy campaign, aiming to inspire EU policy makers and citizens alike to recognise citizen-led initiatives as laboratories for transformative social innovation. These stories will show that citizens can be, and already are, agents of change for strong sustainability. They will illustrate that, at present, there are too many barriers which stand in the way of living a good life within planetary boundaries. Moreover, they will let policy makers aware that  a majority of citizens unequivocally support a strong and ambitious European Green Deal.

What to expect?

One of the outcomes of the storytelling workshops will be a toolkit co-created with Felicidad Collective, which will empower supporters and campaign partners to create their own stories around the Time for Collective Action Manifesto. Our ultimate goal is to amplify our collective voice on “Day X” just before the European elections, urging citizens and community-led initiatives to take political action and  vote for a strong European Green Deal.

Stories possess the unique ability to humanise statistics and policy debates, making them relatable and understandable to policy makers and the public alike. Whether it’s by sharing personal experiences, highlighting community struggles, or showcasing solutions over adversity, narratives have the capacity to evoke empathy, inspire action, and shape policy decisions. Moreover, we are confident that storytelling can drive momentum for policy reform and systemic change.

If the need of sharing your story resonates with you, we invite you to read the Time for Collective Action Manifesto and sign up as a campaign partner plus apply for the storytelling workshops here before Sunday, March 24th, midnight CET. The estimated time investment for the storytelling workshops is approximately 12 hours, from March to May.

Now is the time to share our stories, as they hold the power to spark change.
