The right to have a choice to live sustainably with Climate Campaigners Amplifier Cities

Join us for a thought-provoking online event hosted by Communities for Future, dedicated to a core theme from our Time for Collective Action Manifesto"The right to have a choice to live sustainably." In line with the IPCC's groundbreaking statement in 2022 that lifestyle changes could slash greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70%, this event explores the systemic shifts required for individuals to make sustainable choices.

The Time for Collective Action seeks to inspire and empower participants to collectively contribute to environmental sustainability and engage in political action. To do that, ECOLISE has embarked on an advocacy campaign, targeting the European elections - a make-or-break moment for the European Green Deal, triggering conversations around the Manifesto’s core themes.

For people to be able to change their lifestyles, we need systemic changes to happen at the same time: in policies, technologies and infrastructures. The CAMPAIGNERs project explored what exactly we need to have these systemic changes in place. We will hear from experts such as the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), as well as from local governments and community-led initiatives why people need to have the right to have a choice to live sustainably. If you would like to spread the word further, the event is shared on social media on TwitterInstagramLinkedIn & Facebook.

We eagerly anticipate your presence and active participation in triggering conversations for a greener, more sustainable future for Europe!

Climate Campaigners project aims to be the mechanism for citizen-driven change in a way that is fully immersed in behavioural research and integrated with local, national and EU-level policy goals.

The two higher-order objectives of Climate Campaigners are: 1. providing the best possible and highly impactful scientific support to designing mitigation pathways and policies and 2. creating immediate engagement of citizens in climate actions and supporting them in adopting a more climate-friendly lifestyle.

Overall Goal: Our event aims to:

  1. Encourage Citizen Engagement: Foster community-led initiatives and empower citizens to take political action while raising awareness about the importance of participating in EU-level decision-making processes.

  2. Influence Policymakers: Advocate for the adoption of a strong European Green Deal by engaging with Members of the European Parliament, Council, and European Commission, emphasizing the imperative role of collective action in building thriving communities.

  3. Forge Alliances: Build robust partnerships and alliances to amplify our advocacy efforts and ensure a unified voice in advocating for environmental sustainability.
