The FLIARA: Female-Led Innovation in Agriculture and Rural Areas project, funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe funding programme, acknowledges that current trends, such as climate change, gender inequalities and the COVID-19 pandemic, bring new, significant challenges to European rural areas. FLIARA uniquely proposes a transdisciplinary, innovative methodology to improve understanding, awareness and recognition of women’s role in a more sustainable rural future, as well as develop proposals for how more effective policy and governance frameworks can support this and enhance women’s capacity to contribute to it. Using a thematic case-study approach in 10 EU countries, project partners will investigate women-led innovations on farms and in wider rural areas looking at their pathways in the innovation ecosystem. Building on the power of social networks, a Community of Practice will be developed with women identified throughout the case studies, alongside key innovation policy and governance stakeholders. The project started in January of 2023, debuting with a partner kick-off meeting in Brussels and will last for 3 years.

This publication analyses the goals of the Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement in order to propose specific targets for the Sustainable Development Goals that promote the construction of a more just society – from economic, environmental, and gendered perspectives. "The Green Road Project: A Home Away From Home" takes us on a tour of Ukraine, where the president of GEN Ukraine Maksym Zalevskyi together with a team of volunteers visit eco-communities that host people who have had to leave their homes in the cities. Thanks to the "Green Road" project, more than 3,000 people have found a new home in Ukrainian eco-communities during the war.

ALTER NATIVAS - Building Possible Futures, is a collaborative documentary about eco-social transition and regeneration initiatives. A collective project to make transformative experiences visible and inspire other possible futures. A film codirected by Agustí Corominas and Juan del Río, and produced by Transition Spain that will be launched in Spring 2023. 17th of Feb a first prescreening was made in Palma de Mallorca with a lot of success and the first premieres will be on the 25th of March in Madrid, followed by Barcelona and an online screening. We share with you its final poster and invite you to follow the project on its website and social media, where soon the dates and places of the first premieres will be made public. Because we need to create narratives of possibilities!

Thirty three people participated in our 21st #CommuntiesForFuture session on Tuesday 28th of February. The session featured four guest speakers, including two municipal servants and two Community-led initiative (CLI’s) representatives. Three key themes were explored:

• Showing successful stories of CLI’s working with local councils
• Sharing tools & resources
• Linking to the policy thesis in the topic

For the last two weeks, Sara Silva has been travelling in Indonesia, staying a few days in the cities of Gorontalo (Sulawesi) and Kupang (Timor), engaging with 8 other cities in a 3-day conference on Urban Resilience. After two weeks, Sara can see how ECOLISE’s expertise, considering the diverse array of its members, and the innovation being led by community-led initiatives (CLIs) can empower these cities, its organizations and citizens and move beyond business as usual approach to sustainability.

The IMPETUS EU project is launching its first Open Call, offering grants, prizes up to 60,000€ and a set of supporting tools to new and continuing citizen science projects. In this 1st Open Call, they are looking for innovative and creative projects, focusing on the topics of Healthy Planet and Cities for Life.

The call will close at 12:00 noon CET on 13 March 2022.
